Accounting
This unit introduces the element of both financial and management accounting with two primary objectives. The first is to provide the skills necessary to read and interpret general purpose financial reports. Topics include: the definition and measurement of assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expenses; statements of financial performance, statement of financial position and statement of cash flows. The second objective is to provide an introduction to the use of cost information for making operating and strategic decisions within an organization Topic include the definition of various cost types; the identification of cost behavior; types of costing system; and the use of cost information in simple decision models.

Data Analysis and Decision Making
This unit introduces data analysis and decision making tools that students will be able to use to manage their own day-to day work. Students will be able to identify situation in which quantitative analysis can support problem solving and decision making. They will also gain practical experience in applying statistical and decision analysis techniques and statistical packages (generally Excel) in management contexts. Topic covered include: introduction to modeling of organization and business problems; measurement; variability; uncertainty; statistical tests and quantitative approaches to decision making. The unit provides a foundation for quantitative techniques used in other MBA units.

Economic Management and Strategy
This unit presents a critical set of principles and tools to assist managers to make informed decision in an environment of economic risk and uncertainty. The unit introduces the basic elements of microeconomics macroeconomics in terms of understanding the economic basis of business and strategic decision making through the application of economic principles to the role of the modern manager. Built around contemporary business experience and informal case studies.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The units introduce students to the nature and the characteristic of entrepreneurship and innovation and explores the inter-relationships between the two within contemporary economies from the managerial perspective. The nature of enterprise behavior and the characteristic of entrepreneurs in both large and small organizations are examined, as are the policy issues associated with encouraging enterprise and innovation within large organization and the wider community. Students will examine their own propensity for enterprise and creativity, while exploring the nature and process of innovation. Students will be provided with an understanding of how technology and innovation are distinct but related constructs, as well as the psychological, social and cultural forces influencing new venture creation. The fundamentals of opportunity recognition and screening of new venture ideas will be examined from both a macro and micro perspective.

International Business Law
This unit offers the study of the legal framework in which international business is conducted. It explains what international law is and how it relates to local law. It explores the impact of international law on management, economics and marketing within the framework of foreign trade and investment, bilateral and multilateral treaties. This includes the study of the contact of carriage of good. There is also study of the constitutions and functions of some international institutions such as the United Nations organization, international Court of justice, the organization of economic Co-operation and development (OECD), the World Bank and the international monetary fund (IMF).

International Management is an introduction to the globalization of business. The focus is on those business activities that cross national boundaries including movements of goods, services, capital, personnel technology. The unit presents conceptual frameworks for the analysis of international business problems and issues encountered by multinational Corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in exporting and other forms of international business. This includes such topics as the interaction of international business firms with a host country’s economic, political, social and cultural environments; political and business risk analysis; formation and management of international joint ventures; multinational organizational structure and design; formulation of global business strategies; policies and planning control system; the characteristic of international managers and their selection, training and career management; the management of expatriate and foreign workforces; and ethics and international business.

This unit provides students with the flexibility and on opportunity to undertake a work related project which combines research, analysis and practical application. In undertaking the case study project, students will enhance their analytical and integrative skills.

This unit introduces the basic concepts in financial management. Topics include capital markets and sources of finance; financial mathematics; capital budgeting; diversification and portfolio theory; risk and return relationships; working capital management.

This unit studies the marketing function; marketing decision-making mix; forecasting demand; market segmentation and related behavioral issues; marketing strategies; product as a marketing variable; channel strategy; promotion and budgeting and allocation; promotion and advertising strategies; pricing decision; evaluation and control of marketing management.

Organizational Behavior
This unit focuses on individual and group behavior in organization. Topics covered may include: personality and behavior; personal performance and stress decision making skills; managing power, politics and conflict; team and group dynamics; gender and diversity issues; interpersonal and group communications; and leading change.

Project Management
This unit is for students who wish to understand and improve their project management skills, and for manager who oversee a portfolio of strategic projects. Topics include project creation and planning; scheduling; network analysis and resource management; control of project during their development and execution phases; organizing the project team; benefits realization; managing a portfolio projects.

Small Business Management
This unit concentrates on the management of small businesses and the aspects of the coping of survival and growth of small and medium-sized businesses. Topics covered include the role of small business in the economy; starting a small business; critical stages of growth; alternative modes of growth; the small business conglomerate; advising mall business; franchising; family business; succession problems and small business strategies. Aspects of entrepreneurship and new venture creation are considered only briefly as these are covered in detail in MGMT8608 Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Students relate case studies with theory and undertake a substantial practical assignment which can include interviews with owner-manager or consulting assignments.

Strategic Management
This capstone unit takes a general, integrating perspective and is concerned with setting the strategic direction of organization. The most important outcome form undertaking this unit is to better consider how manager and o0rganization can think and act in a strategic way. This unit predominately uses case studies to improve the strategic thinking capability of students. A number of topics are considered: what is strategy; how does strategy happen within organization; vision; strategy and values; analyzing environmental forces and searching for a sustainable competitive and advantage; competitor positioning and game theory; the impact of disruptive technologies upon business model innovation including forming inter-organizational network of relationships; entrepreneurial strategies; core competencies; parenting advantage; strategic turnaround; chaos theory measuring strategy; strategic leadership and ethics; managing strategic change.
